Egersund sentrum, gågata Below is a list of some of the attractions you should visit during a stay in Dalane. In addition to all of the local attractions, Dalane is located with easy access to popular spots such as Lysefjorden, Preikestolen, Kongeparken (Zoo and Pleasure Park), and Kristiansand Dyrepark.

  • FN-Parken (Bjerkreim) Memorial to UN-soldiers
  • Gursli molybdenum mines (Lund) Former molybdenum mines from 1919.
  • Helleren (Sokndal) House built under overhanging cliffs
  • Hestvad bridge (Eigersund) Stone bridge construction with 6 arches. Dates from 1851
  • Haien (Lund) Traditional Dalane House dating from 1860
  • Kløgetvedttunet (Bjerkreim) Farm museum
  • Lindøy Canon battery (Eigersund) Cannon emplacement from 1600’s.
  • Nesvåg (Sokndal) Fishing village featuring original Boat houses.
  • Rekefjord (Sokndal) Original Wooden houses, Åve.
  • Sogndalstrand (Sokndal) Fully preserved original 18th and 19th century buildings.
  • Stonebridges (Sokndal) Stone bridges from 1882 and 1999 located in Sogndalstrand
  • Terland Klopp (Eigersund) Stone bridge from early 1800’s
  • Egersund Centre – Traditional Norwegian wooden constructed buildings. Dating from as early as the 1840’s.

  • Egersund Fayancemuseum (Eigersund) Norway’s largest collection of Pottery from Egersund
  • Maritime Museum (Sokndal) Fishing gear from the 1800’s
  • Farm Museum Austrumdal (Bjerkreim) Farm museum with Corn barn from 1600’s. Traditional tools and
    original contents.
  • Kløgetvedttunet (Bjerkreim) Farm museum. Buildings from 1700’s.
  • Lund Local Museum (Lund) Local museum with more than 10.000 exhibits refelecting life in the area.
  • Nesvåg Sea and motor Museum (Sokndal) Maritime museum with engines and associated equipment.
  • Ørsdalen mines and museum (Bjerkreim) Museum at the former molybdenum and wolfram mines

Scenic attractions

  • Gloppedalsura (Bjerkreim) Europe´s largest landslide. Military actions during WWII
  • Jøssingfjord (Sokndal) Known from the Royal Navy attack on the vessel ‘Altmark ‘
  • Ruggesteinen (Sokndal) A stone block weighing 74 ton that you can move with just one hand – the largest in Northern-Europe.
  • Vannbassengene (Eigersund) Tour area with swimming, nature trails, Volley and Football pitches
  • Varberg (Eigersund) Tour area with panorama views close to Egersund centre. Early Bronze Age runes at the foot of Varberg.
  • Ørsdalsvatnet / Strandgardane (Bjerkreim) Cruises on the Ørsdalsvatnet lake between Odlandstø and Vassbø. Isolated farming communities.

  • Byrkjedalstunet (Bjerkreim / Gjesdal). Restaurant and hand-made candle production
  • Hestadfjellet (Eigersund). Crash site from ”Operation Freshman”, The attack on the Heavy Water production Facilities at Vemork during WW II.
  • Lille Presteskjær Lighthouse (Sokndal) Open Sundays during the summer. Accommodation and light meals.
  • M/K Ørsdølen (Bjerkreim) Cruises onboard an inland passenger ship (Sundays during the summer )
  • Mysinghålå (Eigersund). Site used by members of the Resistance during WWII
  • Passenger certifi ed Fishing vessels (Sokndal). MS Sjødis and MS Tordenskjold. Sea fi shing and sight-seeing trips.
  • Tore´s Tempocollection (Bjerkreim) Norway’s largest collection of Tempo-mopeds.
  • Tronåsen (Lund) Recall the Rally Monte Carlo Rally from 1931 on this stretch of road
